Fun fact: 🪴The Strangler Fig is an ecological powerhouse. Its fruit is a crucial food source for countless animals, including birds, bats, and monkeys. Perhaps even more importantly, the complex structure of its roots and canopy provides critical shelter, nesting sites, and hunting grounds for a vast array of invertebrates, reptiles, birds, and mammals. A single mature strangler fig functions as an entire ecosystem. If two roots from the same Strangler Fig tree meet, they can actually fuse in a process called anastomosis. This creates a strong, interconnected root network that provides tremendous structural support and allows the tree to share nutrients and water across its entire structure.🪴
