Fun fact: Like other members of its genus, it produces flowers on one-sided, curling stalks called scorpioid cymes. The blooms are small, white, and often have a subtle yellow or greenish center. Though tiny, they are an important nectar source for small native bees and other insects. You’ll find it growing in sandy, well-drained soils in pinelands, coastal strands, scrub, and other open habitats throughout Florida, the Bahamas, and the Greater Antilles.
