Fun Fact: It's a "trap-door" flower. Its pollen is packaged in unique, waxy sacs called pollinia. When a butterfly or bee slips its leg into a slit in the flower, the pollinia clip on like a tiny saddlebag, to be carried to the next flower. The name "milkweed" comes from the most famous characteristic of these plants: they produce a sticky, milky-white latex sap when their leaves or stems are broken. 🪴🦋🐛
