Fun fact: The pollen sacs of the Calotropis gigantea flower (and its close relative Calotropis procera) are designed to be electrically conductive. When a pollinator like a large bee lands on the flower, the transfer of its slight static electric charge triggers the pollen sacs to explosively release a sticky, glue-like pollen packet called a "pollinium" onto the insect's body. This isn't a gentle release; it happens with such force that it can sometimes audibly click and is strong enough to temporarily stun a small bee! The pollinia are then perfectly positioned to be carried to the next flower and deposited directly onto the stigma for pollination.🐝
