Fun fact: This plant is incredibly tough. It's highly drought-tolerant once established and can grow in a wide range of soils, including the poor, sandy soils of its native habitat. It's also shade-tolerant, making it a great, low-maintenance groundcover or vine for difficult spots in a garden where other plants might struggle. The fruits are small (about the size of a pea), dark blue to black when ripe. It is mostly skin and seeds with very little pulp. It's considered inedible for humans. However, birds, especially mockingbirds and catbirds, absolutely love them and are the primary seed dispersers.🐦🐦🐦
